1. Walk Through Orange Orchards
Come in December or January, and you will see the village painted in orange! Local farmers welcome visitors to walk around their orchards. The fresh smell of mandarins in the air will make you feel like you’re in a dream.
2. Watch the Sunrise at Ahaldara Viewpoint
Wake up early and head to Ahaldara Viewpoint. On a clear morning, you can see Mount Kanchenjunga glowing in the sunrise. You’ll also spot tea gardens, the Teesta River, and hills stretching far into Sikkim and Bhutan.
3. Visit Namthing Pokhri
This small lake sits on top of a hill and is surrounded by pine forests. It’s home to the rare Himalayan Salamander. Even if the lake is dry in winter, the view from here is magical.
4. Cross the Jogighat Bridge
Jogighat Bridge is covered in colorful Buddhist prayer flags and offers great views of the river below. You can click some amazing photos here or just enjoy the peaceful vibe.
5. Go Birdwatching in Latpanchar
If you love birds, head to Latpanchar near Sittong. You might see the Rufous-necked Hornbill, Scarlet Minivet, and many other beautiful Himalayan birds. Don’t forget your binoculars!
